Pedro Cera Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition Stasis
by André Cepeda.
Focused on the world of the image, he uses photography as a medium
for representing a reality that is in many cases recognizable in
daily life. In the gallery André Cepeda is presenting three
photographs entitled ‘Stasis’, in an antithesis to the
previous series ‘Moving’ , in which the perception of
movement was represented in the form of landscapes of transition,
such as motorways or simply their central separating barriers. In
this exhibition Cepeda shows those images in which the static character
harks back to an apparent state of gravitation, in which time is
suspended and the actions are frozen. Cepeda redefines what surrounds
him, often trying to dignify spaces. Images of different readings
are treated in an aseptic manner, and are refined of preconceived
connotations.
André Cepeda has devoted himself to the world
of photography since the early eighties, when he started to collaborate
in the Coimbra Photography Encounters, and after finishing his course
in photography at the École des Arts d’Ixelles de Bruxelles,
he holds his first solo exhibition in the year 2000. He has been
carrying out different projects over recent years, both in Portugal
and abroad.
The exhibition runs from October 7th to November 13th. For further
information or images, please contact the gallery.
