The Wandering Chief (1880 · 1891), consists of a rethorical proposal in the shape of visual essay in a double slide
projection (35’ approx.), artist
book (offered in the exhibition) and a set of seven photographic diptics in cotton paper.
The piece as proposal takes as case study the process of abandonment of literature by Arthur Rimbaud between 187680 and his subsequent life as merchant in the Horn of Africa, Harar and Aden.

The photographic series consists of fourteen manipulated facsimiles of pages from two biographies on the life of Rimbaud in Africa: “Arthur Rimbaud, Somebody Else”, Charles nicholl, Vintage, 1997, and “Rimbaud”, Graham Robb, Picador, 2001. The selected pages depict thesame situations of Rimbaud’s life as narrated by each biographer.
